The Walk

A man walks

Alone

Down a long stretch of road.

There’s nothing around

For miles.

The man,

He’s empty

And broken

On the inside.

A hole

In his heart,

A gaping wound

Giving him daily pain

As it waits

To be filled

By the love

Of another.

His dreams offer

No escape,

But only serve

To torture him more.

He keeps

Walking

Walking

Walking.

He continues

Searching

Searching

Searching.

He’s not sure

How long

He can keep going

Day after day

After day

After day

With nothing

Around him.

His hope

Crumbles

Like the dust

Swirling by his feet.

His heart

Throbbing

As he has

No other choice

But to keep

Walking

Walking

Walking

Down the road

Stretching

Into the distance.

Walking

Walking

Walking.

  1. A continual search for that which is yet discovered. Well written! Kudos!
