Lost Loved Ones

The loss of life

Is an inevitable fact,

And yet when it happens

It is still saddening

And painful to bear.

 

Is it the thought

That we’ll never

See them again?

Or is it the fact

That we’re left in a world

That will never be lit again

By their great gifts.

 

Never be lit again

By their wisdom.

Never be lit again

By their courage.

Never be lit again

By their strength.

Never be lit again

By what makes them special.

 

We are left to ponder,

To live in a world without them.

To live on,

And honour their memory.

To carry on their spirit,

And make the world

One they would be proud of.

 

Someday,

We will see them again,

In world of peace

With no death or sadness.

 

For now,

We must carry on.

And live with them

Forever in our memory.
